MELT 2024 – FULL PROGRAM ANNOUNCEMENT

Calling all choirs, aspiring singers and allies! Melt is excited to reveal that the 2025 festival will feature an unforgettable moment of song, bringing together over a thousand singers in support and celebration of the LGBTQIA+ community at 1000 Voices.

Taking centre stage as the grand finale of Melt 2025, 1000 Voices will be a unforgettable choral event unlike anything Brisbane/Magandjin has seen before. Uniting LGBTQIA+ and Pride Choirs from across Australia and Aotearoa/New Zealand, Melt Festival will culminate in a spectacular performance of song on Sunday 9 November — a powerful celebration of pride, diversity and the unity of queer communities and allies.

This major choir experience will create a rainbow harmony of voices from Melbourne, Brisbane, Darwin, Sydney, Adelaide, Northern NSW, Auckland, Perth, Canberra and beyond. Individual voices are warmly welcomed, whether you’re a part of a choir or simply someone who loves to sing, this is your invitation to be part of history. Everyone is welcome to join this symphony.

And the celebration doesn’t stop there. As a sneak preview, a pop-up performance will provide a tasty morsel of what’s to come, with a flash mob of Voices appearing on one of Brisbane’s bridges during the River Pride Parade on Saturday 8 November, an iconic and joyful expression of pride on the Brisbane River (Maiwar).

Leading this historic occasion is the extraordinary Adam Majsay, Music Director of the Sydney Gay & Lesbian Choir and former Festival Creative Director of Out & Loud & Proud (WorldPride 2023). With a reputation for turning mass LGBTQIA+ choir events into once-in-a-lifetime, emotional experiences, Adam’s expert guidance is set to make 1000 Voices an unforgettable highlight of Melt 2025.

“There’s nothing quite like the sound of hundreds of voices rising as one — it lifts the spirit, opens the heart, and reminds us what true family feels like. I’ve had the privilege of leading large-scale choral projects that centre inclusion and visibility, and I’ve seen first-hand how music welcomes people in.”

Adam Majsay, Music Director, 1000 Voices

“1000 Voices at Melt Festival will be more than a performance — it will be a powerful moment of connection for LGBTQIA+ singers, allies, and anyone who simply loves to sing.” Adam continues. “Whether you’re part of a choir or stepping into something like this for the first time, there’s a place for you in this sound. And what a sound it will be — joyful, bold, and unapologetically full of pride.

“I’m personally so excited to be coming to Brisbane for this extraordinary event, and I can’t wait to stand together with voices from all over Australia and New Zealand. Come be part of it — lift your voice and help us share in something unforgettable.”

Sydney Gay & Lesbian Choir and Brisbane Pride Choir are already confirmed and warming up, with many more to join the lineup in the coming weeks.

“At Sydney Gay & Lesbian Choir, we know the magic that happens when our queer community comes together in song. It’s not just about music; it’s about belonging, visibility, and celebrating who we are, loudly and proudly.” says Jodey Schneider, President, Sydney Gay & Lesbian Choir.

“1000 Voices at Melt Festival is a chance to take that magic to a whole new level. To sing shoulder-to-shoulder with singers from across the country, as part of a Festival with diversity and community at its heart — it’s going to be unforgettable. We’re thrilled to be part of this incredible initiative and can’t wait to share in the joy, connection and power of 1000 Voices united in pride.”

Elliott Rentoul, Musical Director, Brisbane Pride Choir adds to the excitement, saying “The Brisbane Pride Choir is honoured to join singers from Magandjin and beyond in the 1000 Voices Choir; a powerful celebration of pride, community, and music. Being part of a massed choir is an unforgettable experience — one that amplifies not just our songs, but our shared stories and identities. For us, choir has always been about more than the music—it’s about visibility, solidarity, and creating a space where every voice is valued and heard.

“There’s something profoundly moving about hearing hundreds of voices coming together in song. It’s not just the sound—it’s the feeling of connection, resilience, and joy that fills the space. These events remind us why we sing: to build community, to tell our stories, and to celebrate who we are.”
Registrations for choirs and individuals are now open – register your interest now. Be one in a thousand – lend your voice to 1000 Voices and help close Melt 2025 with a powerful crescendo of harmony, pride and community.
