friction

There is no queer liberation without collective liberation. Friction is the catalyst for social growth.
This three-day event encompasses an art exhibition, panel discussion, workshop, music performances, and open mic. We ground queerness in Indigenous Knowledges from around the world, centring First Nations peoples to these lands, alongside people of colour displaced by settler-colonial systems. Through visual art, discourse, music, and spoken word, we delve into this discomfort as a means for individual and collective growth.
In our collective experiences of otherness, we find community. And whilst communities are vehicles for expansive cultural heights, they must be grounded in accountability, responsibility, and solidarity. Responsibility for reciprocal nurturing and collective care allows collective growth, creating a dynamic and mutually reinforcing cycle where personal development and community advancement are interconnected and support one another.
