avÉ
Australian Vocal Ensemble - AVÉ - brings the power and intimacy of the voice to the forefront in this premiere celebration of queer identity and creativity. Vocal Spectrum features new vocal chamber works by leading Queensland composers, each set to poetry by LGBTQIA+ poets from across the state, alongside striking new arrangements of beloved queer anthems.
This genre-blurring program spans a musical and emotional spectrum, brought to life by four of Australia’s finest vocalists, Katie Noonan, Fiona Campbell OAM, Louis Hurley and Andrew O’Connor.
Commissioned especially for Melt Festival, Vocal Spectrum offers moments of reflection, defiance and joy as AVÉ pays tribute to the many ways queer voices resonate in our lives, our stories, and our songs.
This project has been assisted by the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland’s Queensland Arts Showcase Program (QASP).
Presented by Brisbane Powerhouse and AVÉ
"It was an enchanting evening in a celebration of the human voice, let us hope this is the first of many performances for AVÉ here and around the World."
