DragSpeare: Drag Kings do Shakespeare

The Stallion Squad are a motley crew of trashy Drag Kings who delight in performing at any sleazy venue that will have them. Under the leadership of Pan Teasetickle, they sing, dance and perform iconic songs with passion and extensive manspreading. Behind the personas of these Kings are five Meanjin actor/ singer/ performers with a passion for entertainment, Shakespeare and some healthy smashing of the patriarchy.

Pan Teasetickle is the creation of legendary singer, songwriter and actor Lucinda Shaw who is renowned for their powerful vocals and uncompromising performance presence. The fvck boi of the Stallions is York Lit, aka Jules Berry, an emerging artist on the Drag and theatrical scene who “radiates joy, charm and cheekiness” (Finalist, judges’ choice at the Altimate. SHOWDOWN 2024). Rocky V. Liquor is the stud of the Stallions (in his own mind anyway). Michelle Lamarca created Rocky for Melony Breasts’ smash hit Drag King Bingo, and also performs as an actor, singer and clown doctor. Brooding Bohemian rock god, Biron Bothways is the creation of actor, singer, improviser and educator, Anne Pensalfini. Biron feels things deeply. So deep… inside. In fact no one truly understands him or his pain. This fabulous five-some is completed by Swingin’ Dick, created by proud ally Jo Loth. Dick is a smooth, smooth jazz crooner who charms the pants off all the older ladies on the cruise ships. Jo is an actor, cabaret performer, director, voice, and movement coach who also happens to have a PhD in cabaret performance.
