Join us for an intersectional evening to celebrate the talented and staunch queer First Nations artists!
‘Queer Lush Deadly: Sovereign Identity’ is a vibrant and powerful exhibition that celebrates the voices and artistry of LGBTQIA+ First Nations artists. This collection honors the deep connection between identity, culture, and creativity, showcasing the diverse and unique ways in which these artists assert their sovereignty over their narratives, bodies, and lived experiences. In every work, there is an intersection of queerness, Indigeneity, and resistance, challenging colonial histories that have long sought to marginalize and silence both Indigenous and queer communities.
At the heart of this exhibition lies a commitment to storytelling as an act of resilience and empowerment. Each piece, whether through painting, sculpture, digital media, or performance, weaves together threads of cultural heritage, personal journey, and collective resistance. The artists draw upon their rich cultural backgrounds, incorporating ancestral knowledge, traditional practices, and contemporary influences, creating works that are simultaneously rooted in ancient wisdom and radical in their modern expression.
The exhibition will be open from October 24 – November 11, Mon-Sat
