Town Square: Fish Lane Arts Precinct
Town Square is an outdoor space positioned under a railway line and surrounded by tropical plants in the heart of the Fish Lane Arts Precinct. This venue is a true urban oasis, only 2 minutes from major public transport and the Cultural Precinct.
Town Square is a blank canvas, 15m x 6m, with access to power, water, shared PWD amenity, a brick floor treatment and bench seating around the rectangular perimeter. Suitable for public performance, workshops, in conversations, displays & activations of a temporal nature. The two 4m high concrete pillars act as partitions of the space and are great for projections, live painting, backdrops. Because this venue is open & accessible to the public, considerations to content, volume, weather contingencies are required. There is a private carpark adjacent to Town Square available for back of house, storage etc.
Capacity is determined by the setup of the event within the 90 square meter space. For example, 150 for standing is comfortable. Fish Lane is a road shared by pedestrians & cars. There is the option to apply to Brisbane City Council for a road closure which increases capacity to 1500-2000 however this incurs costs and requires permits/applications.
We have a full-time coordinator to assist you and provide introductions to the neighbouring restaurants Southside, Hello Please, Bar Brutus and Julius Pizzeria that have catering options. Fish Lane Arts Precinct hosts media profile @explorefishlane for promotion & can run ticketing services to support your event.
Venue hire is FREE & all ticket proceeds will go back to the artist. If a partnership is successful, Fish Lane Arts Precinct will reimburse your application fee.
